The automatic climate control (ECC) of the Volvo S80 (2nd generation, 2013–2016) fully automatically regulates temperature, air distribution and fan speed for driver and front passenger. This section describes operation and options for individual adjustment. The functions of seat heating, seat ventilation and the heated rear seat are also explained. Notes on safe use and automatic start functions complete the information and enhance comfort.

Automatic climate control - ECC

ECC (Electronic Climate Control) maintains the selected temperature in the vehicle interior and can be set separately for the driver and passenger sides.

With the AUTO function, temperature, air conditioning, fan speed, recirculation function and air distribution are controlled automatically.

  • Heating off - no segment lights up.
WARNING

The electric seat heater should not be used by persons who have reduced sensation and cannot feel the temperature increase in the seat, or who for any other reason have difficulty adjusting the electrically heated seat controls. Otherwise, burns may occur.

Automatic start of the seat heater for the driver's seat.

When automatic start of the driver's seat heater is activated, the heating effect is strongest after the engine is started.

Automatic start occurs when the vehicle is cold and the outside temperature is below approx. +10 °C.

The function can be activated/deactivated in the MY CAR menu system. For more information on the menu system, see MY CAR.

Front seat ventilation*

Ventilation and seat heating can be used at the same time. This function can be used, for example, to dry out clothing.

The ventilation system consists of blowers in the seat cushions and backrests that draw air through the seat cover. The cooling effect increases the warmer the interior air is. The system can be activated when the engine is running.

Ventilation is controlled by the climate control system and takes into account the seat temperature, solar radiation and the outside temperature.

Die aktuelle Komfortstufe wird am Bildschirm der Mittelkonsole angezeigt.
The current comfort level is shown on the center console display.

For button position, see illustration.

To activate the function, press the button repeatedly.

There are three comfort levels, which provide different cooling and dehumidifying effects:

  • Comfort level III: Highest output - three blue segments light up on the center console display (see illustration above).
  • Comfort level II: Medium output - two blue segments light up on the display.
  • Comfort level I: Lowest output - one blue segment lights up on the display.
  • Function off - no segment lights up.
CAUTION

People sensitive to drafts should use seat ventilation only with great caution.

Comfort level I is recommended for extended use.

IMPORTANT

To prevent overcooling, seat ventilation cannot be switched on when the interior temperature is below 5 °C.

* Option/accessory. For more information, see "Introduction".

The ECC automatic climate control of the Volvo S80 (2nd generation) provides the highest level of comfort by independently regulating temperature, air distribution and blower speed. Driver and front passenger can make individual settings and enjoy a perfect interior climate.

Seat heating and the optional seat ventilation also contribute to well-being. This way, the S80 remains a vehicle that ideally combines comfort and functionality in every season.
