Malfunctions and Self-Diagnosis
The Mono-Motronic injection system control unit can detect and store in memory some of the faults that occur during engine operation. If the fault does not reoccur within the next 10 engine starts (intermittent fault), it is automatically erased from the control unit memory. Information on constantly recurring faults is read out during an inspection in a workshop using special equipment; this work cannot be performed at home. If you suspect a fault in the ignition/injection control, the fault memory can only be interpreted in a workshop. In addition, you may use our fault list, which describes a large number of possible faults, including those that cannot be determined by self-diagnosis. After the faults have been corrected, the fault memory is erased with the reading equipment.
