Checking the throttle valve positioner
The following paragraphs describe the procedure for checking injection system components that can be performed at home.
PROCEDURE
Disconnect the connector from the throttle valve positioner.
Apply a maximum voltage of 6 V to the positioner connecting terminals; positive pole on top.
For a 4-pin connector, these are terminals 1 and 2 (both upper).
For a 6-pin connector, these are terminals 1 and 6 (top and bottom).
The required voltage can be obtained from a 4.5 V battery or the 6 V range of a battery charger.
Reverse the polarity of the connecting wire (negative contact at the upper contact pin).
The plunger must extend fully.
If everything occurs as described, the throttle valve positioner is in order. If not, it must be replaced.
In addition, you may perform resistance measurements.
The resistance of the auxiliary motor winding between the connections already mentioned is 3–200 Ω.
