Mono-Motronic Injection System

Throttle Cable

~1min read

The connecting cable between the accelerator pedal and the injection system is very sensitive to bending. When working in the engine compartment, make sure that the disconnected cable is not kinked with a small radius, as this may damage it.

Replacing the Throttle Cable
PROCEDURE

Remove the retaining clips at the end of the throttle cable and the connector cover at the point where the cable sheath is attached.

Remove the cover on the left side under the instrument panel inside the vehicle (refer to the Interior chapter).

Pull the throttle cable eyelets out of the retaining socket on the accelerator pedal lever.

Push the rubber grommet out of the bulkhead between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment.

Pull out the throttle cable.

When installing the rubber grommet of the new throttle cable, make sure the cable is not kinked.

1 and 2 – retaining clips;
3 – connector cover;
4 – throttle valve actuator connector;
5 – throttle valve stop with idle signal switch.

Adjusting the Throttle Cable
PROCEDURE

Fully depress the accelerator pedal.

Move the throttle valve lever to the full throttle position.

Insert the plug-in stopper into the corresponding recess of the cable sheath at the counter support.

With the accelerator pedal fully depressed, the clearance at the throttle valve lever must be a maximum of 1 mm.
