Checking temperature sensors

This diagram shows the resistance values of the intake air temperature sensor next to the fuel injector and the coolant temperature sensor in the coolant pipe on the left side of the engine. The illustration shows sensor resistance as a function of temperature.

PROCEDURE

Intake air temperature sensor: disconnect the brown connector at the top of the fuel metering unit.

Connect ohmmeter to both outer connector pins.

Coolant temperature sensor: disconnect the sensor connector (blue) at the coolant inlet pipe.

Connect ohmmeter to the sensor connector pins.

Both sensors: record the resistance values.

Use the diagram to check whether the sensor resistance values, as well as the air and coolant temperatures at the time of measurement, are within the permissible range.

If so, the sensors are serviceable.
