Malfunctions and Self-Diagnosis
The Digifant injection system control unit can recognize and store in memory some of the faults that occur during engine operation. Detected faults are recorded in the fault memory. When the Audi vehicle is taken to a workshop for inspection, the fault memory data is read out using special equipment. Reading fault memory data at home is not possible. If you suspect a malfunction in the ignition/injection control, the fault memory can only be interrogated at an Audi workshop. In addition, you may refer to our list of faults, which contains a large number of possible malfunctions beyond the scope of self-diagnosis. After faults are repaired, the fault memory is erased by the reading device.
Note: When performing all tests and adjustments that require the coolant temperature sensor to be disconnected on the Digifant injection system, this condition is recorded in the fault memory as "no temperature sensor signal". Therefore, after each test or adjustment, the fault memory must be erased. The workshop does this using fault memory reader V.A.G 1551.
