Cold Start Valve

The cold start valve (arrow) is located in an easily accessible place at the rear right on the exhaust manifold.
PROCEDURE
Disconnect the connectors from all injectors.
Power supply: remove the wire terminal from the cold start valve.
Connect an LED voltmeter with auxiliary wiring to the connector.
Disconnect the connector from the coolant temperature sensor.
Have an assistant crank the engine with the starter; the LED should light up for 1–4 s.
If this does not occur, there is a break in the wiring or the Digifant injection control unit is faulty.
Function check: the injector connectors remain disconnected.
Unscrew the cold start valve; the wire terminals and fuel line hoses remain connected.
Disconnect the connector from the coolant temperature sensor.
Direct the cold start valve into a suitable container.
Ask an assistant to crank the engine with the starter.
Within 1–4 s the valve should spray fuel in an even stream.
Wipe the valve completely dry to check for leaks.
No fuel should leak from it within one minute, and the cold start valve should not appear wet with fuel externally.
