Checking temperature sensors

This diagram shows the characteristics of the coolant temperature sensor and the intake air temperature sensor.

PROCEDURE

Intake air temperature sensor: disconnect the 4-pin connector on top of the air flow meter.

Connect the ohmmeter to both external connector contacts.

Coolant temperature sensor: disconnect the blue connector from the sensor in the coolant filler neck.

Connect ohmmeter to the sensor connector pins.

Both sensors: record the resistance values.

Using the diagram at the bottom right, check whether the sensor resistance data, as well as the air and coolant temperature at the time of measurement, are within the curve.

If so, the sensors are serviceable.
