Removing the Air Filter Housing

After removing the clamps and both screws (1), the upper part of the filter housing can be separated from the lower part (3) and the filter element (2) removed. When installing, make sure the housing parts are correctly positioned relative to each other. The projection on the lower part of the housing must engage the recesses in the upper part.

Air filter replacement is shown on a 4-cylinder engine rated 85 kW: after removing the clamps (arrows), the upper housing (2) can be removed. The intake hose is also installed here. The air filter element is now accessible.
PROCEDURE
Engine with Mono-Motronic injection system: remove the air filter element (see above).
Unscrew the three nuts in the middle of the housing and, where fitted, remove the retaining ring.
Disconnect all hoses, remove the valves and the fuel line.
Remove the housing.
When installing, note: the vacuum hose to the heated air valve in the intake manifold connects to the brass hose nipple or the nipple with a mark. The hose to the mixture preparation unit connects to the plastic connector without a mark.
Models with 4-cylinder Digifant engines, and models with 5- and 6-cylinder engines: remove the housing cover (with the mixture control unit) and the air filter element.
Disconnect the heated air hose of the intake air heating system.
Unscrew the hex bolt at the base of the container.
Pull the retaining pin of the filter housing out of the rubber bushing in the wheel arch.
Remove the housing.
