AutoStick — if equipped
AutoStick is a driver-interactive transmission feature that provides manual gear shifting control, giving you more control over the vehicle. AutoStick allows you to maximize engine braking, eliminate unwanted upshifts and downshifts, and improve overall vehicle performance. This system can also give you more control during passing, city driving, cold slippery weather, mountain driving, towing a trailer, and many other situations.
Operation
In AutoStick mode, you can use the gear selector (in the MANUAL position), the shift paddles in the MANUAL (M) position (next to the DRIVE (D) position), or tap one of the shift paddles on the steering wheel. Pressing the (-) shift paddle to enter AutoStick mode will shift the transmission to the next lower gear; pressing (+) to enter AutoStick mode will keep the current gear. The current gear will be displayed in the instrument cluster.

- (–) Shift Paddle
- (+) Shift Paddle
NOTE:
- When the gear selector is in the DRIVE position, pressing one of the shift paddles (+/-), if equipped, activates temporary AutoStick mode. Pressing (-) to enter AutoStick mode will shift the transmission to the next lower gear; pressing (+) to enter AutoStick mode will keep the current gear. The current gear will be displayed in the instrument cluster, but "M" will not be highlighted. The transmission will return to normal operation (if the gear selector remains in the DRIVE position) after a period of time, depending on accelerator pedal activity.
- On some models, the shift paddles can be disabled (or re-enabled as desired) using the drive mode setting, which can be accessed by selecting "Performance Management".
In AutoStick mode, the transmission will upshift or downshift when (+/-) is manually selected by the driver (using the gear selector or shift paddles [if equipped]), unless engine over-rev or over-speed occurs. It will remain in the selected gear until another upshift or downshift is selected, except as described below.
- If normal AutoStick mode is engaged (gear selector in the MANUAL position), the manually selected gear will be maintained until the gear selector is returned to the DRIVE position or as described below. The transmission will not automatically upshift at redline in this mode, and it will not downshift if the accelerator pedal is pressed to the floor.
- The transmission will automatically downshift as the vehicle slows down (to prevent engine lugging) and will display the current gear.
- The transmission will automatically downshift to FIRST gear as the vehicle approaches a stop. After stopping, the driver must manually select upshift (+) as the vehicle accelerates.
- You can start from a stop in FIRST or SECOND gear. Pressing (+) (while stopped) will allow starting in SECOND gear. Starting in SECOND gear may be helpful in snowy or icy conditions.
- If a requested downshift would cause engine over-speed, the downshift will not occur.
- The system will ignore upshift attempts when vehicle speed is too low, and an indication will be displayed.
- Holding the (-) shift paddle (if equipped), or holding the gear selector in the (-) position, will downshift to the lowest possible gear at the current speed.
- Gear changes will be more noticeable when AutoStick is enabled.
- The system may return to automatic shifting mode if a malfunction or overheating is detected.
To cancel AutoStick mode, move the gear selector back to the DRIVE position, or press and hold the (+) paddle shifter (if equipped and the gear selector is already in DRIVE) until "D" is displayed again in the instrument cluster. You may enter or exit AutoStick mode at any time without removing your foot from the accelerator pedal.
