Installing the towing bracket
The towing bracket must be fitted to the bodywork by qualified personnel, following any additional and/or supplementary instructions supplied by the manufacturer of the device. The towing device to be installed must comply with the currently applicable standards relating to EC Directive 94/20 and its subsequent amendments. For any version, use a towing device suitable for the towing capacity of the vehicle on which it is installed.
Please note that the use of auxiliary loads other than the exterior lights (electric brake, winch, etc.) must be carried out with the engine running.
For the electrical connection, use a standardized plug connector mounted on a bracket. The bracket is usually fixed to the towing device itself. A special control unit for operating the trailer's exterior lights must be installed in the vehicle.
For the electrical connections, use 7-pin or 13-pin plug connectors with 12 V DC power supply (CUNA/UNI and ISO/DIN standards) and observe any instructions from the vehicle manufacturer and/or the towing device manufacturer.
Any electric brake or other equipment (electric winch, etc.) must be powered directly from the battery using a cable with a minimum cross-section of 2.5 mm².
Note: the electric brake or any winch must only be used with the engine running.
In addition to the electrical branches, only the cable supplying an electric brake, if fitted, and the cable for a trailer interior lamp of no more than 15 W may be connected to the vehicle's electrical system. For the connections, use the designated distribution box and a battery cable with a minimum cross-section of 2.5 mm².
NoteThe vehicle's ABS does not monitor the trailer's braking system. Take care on slippery surfaces!
NoteUnder no circumstances may the vehicle's brake system be modified to control the trailer brake system. The trailer brake system must be completely independent of the vehicle's hydraulic system.
