Topping up fluid levels

LPG

Maximum refuelling capacity (including reserve): 38 litres. This value includes the 80% filling limit and the remaining quantity of fuel required for float adjustment. This is the maximum permissible filling value. This value may show slight differences at different fill levels due to: differences between the delivery pressure of the pump at the filling station network, pumps with different delivery/cut-off parameters, and the tank being in a partially reserve state.

CAUTION

37) Please note that in some countries (including Italy), legal regulations restrict the parking/garaging of vehicles powered by gas heavier than air; LPG falls into this category.

38) Modifications or repairs to the fuel system carried out incorrectly, without regard to the technical parameters of the system, may cause malfunction with a risk of fire.

39) Do not switch between the two operating modes during the engine starting phase.

CAUTION

7) The maximum operating temperatures of the system range from -20°C to 100°C.

8) If the gas in the tank runs out while operating in LPG mode, the system automatically switches over to petrol mode and all segments of the digital indicator go out; this indication remains until LPG is refuelled.

9) This vehicle is fitted with an LPG injection system developed specifically for it: it is therefore strictly forbidden to modify the configuration of the system or its components. The use of other components or materials may cause malfunction and reduced safety, so in the event of a fault contact an authorised Fiat dealer. When towing or lifting the vehicle, the instructions given in the section "Towing the vehicle" must be followed to avoid damaging the gas system components.

10) When painting in a paint booth, the LPG tank must be removed from the vehicle and then correctly refitted by an authorised Fiat dealer. Although the LPG system has numerous safety devices, whenever the vehicle is not used for an extended period or is transported due to a fault or accident, it is recommended to follow this procedure: unscrew the locking devices A fig. 33, then remove the cover B. Close the LPG cap by turning the knob C fig. 34 clockwise. Refit the cover and screw in the locking devices.

11) Periodically (at least once every six months) it is recommended to use up the LPG in the tank and, when first refuelling, check that it does not exceed the maximum specified capacity of 30.5 litres (including reserve) (with a tolerance of 2 litres over). If a value higher than 30.5 litres (including reserve) is detected, contact an authorised Fiat dealer immediately.

12) Regardless of the fuel type used during the last use of the vehicle, the next time it is started, after the initial petrol phase, the system will automatically switch over to LPG.

13) After the switchover (from petrol to LPG), a metallic sound from the pressure regulating valves in the system can be heard. With regard to the switching modes described above, it is normal for there to be a delay between the valve click and the green indicator lamp in the
instrument cluster going out.

14) In certain operating conditions, such as starting and driving at low ambient temperatures or when the LPG supplied has a low propane content, the system may temporarily switch to petrol operation without displaying any switchover indication. If the LPG level in the tank is low, or when better performance is requested (e.g. when overtaking, with the vehicle fully loaded, or when climbing steep gradients), the system may switch automatically to petrol operation to provide the higher engine power required; in this case the switchover is indicated by the.
When the above conditions cease, the system automatically returns to LPG operation and the indicator lampgoes out. To
allow the automatic switchover described above, always make sure there is sufficient fuel in the tank.

15) Use only LPG intended for motor vehicles.

16) Strictly prohibited: do not use any type of LPG additive.
