Tire Condition Inspection

~1min read

Each time you check tire air pressure, carefully inspect the tires for mechanical damage to the tread and sidewalls, small stones, nails and similar objects lodged in the tread, and signs of severe tread wear. Pay particular attention to the following defects:

Local bulges or bulging of the carcass in the tread area or on the sidewalls. A tire with this defect must be replaced.

Cuts, cracks, or separation of the sidewall carcass. Replace the tire if the carcass cord is exposed.

Tread wear limit.

The tires fitted to your vehicle have tread wear indicators molded into the tread. When the tread is significantly worn, smooth transverse strips 12.7 mm wide appear on the tread surface, spaced at specific intervals around the tire circumference.

Their appearance indicates that the tread depth has decreased to 1.6 mm.

Worn tires do not provide sufficient traction on wet road surfaces. Therefore, the tire must be replaced if three or more tread wear indicators are visible on the tread.
