Rear Window Electric Defroster

The defroster is designed to remove condensation, moisture, frost or a thin layer of ice from the rear window. Turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position. To turn the defroster on or off, press its switch. When the defroster is on, the indicator built into the switch illuminates. The electric defroster turns off when the ignition is switched off.
After restarting the engine, the electric defroster will need to be turned on again.

For vehicles equipped with an automatic climate control system
The heater turns off automatically approximately 10 - 30 minutes after switching on, depending on the outside air temperature (when it is above 0 °C).
Before driving, make sure that the rear window is clean and provides sufficient visibility of the area behind the vehicle.
The thin conductive grid of the rear window heater bonded to the glass can be easily damaged. When cleaning the rear window, move the sponge from side to side horizontally, not vertically.
On certain vehicle variants
The outside rear view mirror heaters switch on at the same time as the rear window heater. For more information, refer to page 211.
