Immobilizer

~1min read

The immobilizer is an effective anti-theft device for the vehicle. An attempt to start the engine using an incorrect key or any other tool will cut off the fuel supply to the engine.

When the ignition is turned to the ON (II) position, the immobilizer indicator comes on briefly and then goes off. If the indicator starts flashing, the immobilizer system has not recognized the key code. In this case, turn the ignition key to the LOCK (0) position and remove it from the switch, then reinsert the key into the switch and turn it to the ON (II) position.

The system may not recognize the key code of the key in the ignition switch if another key with an immobilizer or a metal object (such as a key chain, key fob, etc.) is nearby.

If the system fails to recognize the key code several times, contact an authorized Honda dealer.

Do not attempt to make any changes or additions to this system or related devices. This may disrupt the normal operation of the vehicle's electronic systems and make it impossible to operate the vehicle.

If a key is lost and the engine cannot be started, contact an authorized dealer.
