Charging System - General Information

~1min read

The charging system consists of the battery, the alternator with an integrated voltage regulator, the battery charge warning light and the wiring. The alternator contains a rectifier assembly consisting of six diodes (three positive and three negative), which convert alternating voltage into direct voltage. The direct voltage is supplied to the alternator "B" terminal. In addition, the charging voltage output by the alternator is regulated by a system that maintains a constant battery charge level.

The main components of the alternator are the rotor, stator, rectifier assembly, brushes, bearings and the pulley driven by the crankshaft belt.
