Tire Replacement

If a tire wears evenly, the tread wear indicator will appear as a solid band across the tread. This shows that less than 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) of tread remains on the tire. Replace the tire when this occurs.

Do not wait until the band appears across the entire tread before replacing the tire.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY:

Replace tires that are worn, have uneven wear or are damaged. Worn tires can reduce braking efficiency, steering control and traction.

Always replace tires with the same size as each tire originally supplied with this vehicle. Using tires and wheels other than the recommended sizes may result in unusual handling characteristics, poor vehicle control or adversely affect your vehicle's Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), leading to a serious accident.

Tires deteriorate over time, even when they are not used. Regardless of remaining tread, HYUNDAI recommends that tires be replaced after six (6) years of normal service.

Heat caused by hot climates or frequent high-load conditions can accelerate the aging process. Failure to observe this warning may cause sudden tire failure, which may result in loss of vehicle control and an accident.

Compact Spare Tire Replacement

The compact spare tire has a shorter tread life than a regular-size tire. Replace it when you see the tread wear indicator bars on the tire. The replacement compact spare tire must be the same size and design as the one supplied with your new vehicle and must be installed on the same compact spare wheel. The compact spare wheel is not designed for installation on a regular-size wheel, and the compact spare tire is not designed for mounting on a regular-size wheel.

WARNING

The original tire must be repaired or replaced as soon as possible to avoid losing the spare and losing control of the vehicle as a result of an accident. Use the compact spare tire for emergency use only. Do not drive your vehicle faster than 50 mph (80 km/h) when using the compact spare tire.
