It is important to use the correct towing equipment. Crosswinds, passing trucks and uneven roads are some of the reasons why proper hitching is important. Follow these rules:

- Does the hitch require drilling holes in the body? If so, seal the holes left by the hitch when it is removed. If this is not done, carbon monoxide (CO) from the exhaust can enter the passenger compartment, along with dirt and water.

- Vehicle bumpers are not suitable for hitches. Do not attach rental hitches or other bumper hitches. Use only a frame-mounted hitch, not one attached to the bumper.
