Recommended driving practices

~2min read

- Never move the shift lever out of P (Park) or N (Neutral) to another position with the accelerator pedal pressed.

- Never move the shift lever into P (Park) while the vehicle is moving.

- Make sure the vehicle is completely stopped before shifting into R (Reverse) or D (Drive).

- Do not move the shift lever to N (Neutral) while driving. This may cause an accident due to the loss of engine braking, and the transmission may be damaged.

- Do not drive with your foot resting on the brake pedal. Even light but constant pressure on the pedal may cause overheating, wear and even possible brake failure.

- Reduce speed before downshifting. Otherwise, the lower gear cannot be engaged if the engine rpm is outside the permitted range.

- Always apply the parking brake when leaving the vehicle. Do not rely on the P (Park) position of the shift lever to prevent the vehicle from moving.

- Use extreme caution when driving on slippery surfaces. Be especially careful when braking, accelerating, or shifting gears.

On a slippery surface, a sudden change in vehicle speed can cause the tyres to lose traction, resulting in loss of vehicle control and a possible accident.

- Optimum vehicle performance and fuel economy are achieved by pressing and releasing the accelerator pedal smoothly.

WARNING To reduce the risk of SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH: - ALWAYS wear your seat belt. In a collision, an unbelted occupant is far more likely to be injured or killed than a properly belted occupant. - Avoid high speeds when turning or cornering. - Do not make sudden steering movements, such as quick lane changes or sharp, sudden turns. - The risk of rollover increases significantly if you lose control of the vehicle at highway speeds. - Loss of control often occurs when two or more tyres leave the road and the driver oversteers to return to the road. - If the vehicle leaves the roadway, do not steer sharply. Instead, slow down before returning to the lane. - HYUNDAI recommends that you obey all posted speed limits.
