The automatic transmission has four forward gears plus reverse. Each gear is selected automatically, depending on the position of the shift lever.

WARNING To reduce the risk of serious injury or death: - ALWAYS check the area around the vehicle for people, especially children, before shifting into gear. - Before leaving the driver's seat, always make sure the lever is in P (Park); then pull the parking brake firmly and turn the ignition switch to the LOCK/OFF position. If these precautions are not observed, the vehicle could move unexpectedly.

The indicator on the instrument cluster shows the position of the shift lever when the ignition switch is in the ON position.
