FUEL PRESSURE INSPECTION

  1. Release residual pressure in the fuel line (refer to "Fuel Line Pressure Release" in this group).
  2. Install the Special Service Tool (SST).
    1. Disconnect the fuel supply tube from the feed tube.
    2. Install the special fuel pressure gauge between the fuel feed tubes (refer to the illustration below).
  3. Check for fuel leaks at the tube connections, fuel line, and SST components with the ignition ON.
  4. Measure Fuel Pressure
    1. Start the engine and measure fuel pressure at idle.

      Fuel pressure: 323~363 kPa (3.29~3.70 kgf/cm², 46.8~52.6 psi)

    2. Turn the engine OFF and check whether the fuel pressure gauge display has changed. STANDARD VALUE: When the engine is off, the Fuel Level indicator remains displayed for approx. 5 minutes.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  5. Release the residual pressure in the fuel line (refer to "Fuel Line Residual Pressure Release").
  6. End of test
    1. Remove the Special Service Tool (SST) from the feed tube in the fuel and supply pipe.
    2. Connect the fuel feed tube to the feed tube.

Fuel Line Residual Pressure Release

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and disconnect the (-) battery cable.
  2. Remove the fuel pump fuse (A).
  3. Connect the (-) battery cable.
  4. Start the engine and let it idle, then turn the ignition switch to the OFF position after the engine stops by itself.
  5. Disconnect the (-) battery cable, then install the fuel pump relay (A).
  6. Connect the (-) battery cable.
  7. Clear the diagnostic trouble code related to the fuel pump relay using GDS.
