Tire Replacement

If the tire shows even wear, the tread wear indicator will appear as a solid band across the tread pattern. The tire tread depth is less than 1.6 mm (1/16 inch). In this case, replace the tire.

Do not wait until the tread wear indicator bar appears across the tread before replacing the tire.

To reduce the risk of serious injury or death from a crash caused by a tire blowout or loss of vehicle control:

• Replace tires when they become smooth, show signs of uneven wear, or are damaged. Worn tires can reduce braking effectiveness, handling, and traction.
• Do not drive the vehicle with tire pressure that is too low or too high. This may cause uneven wear and tire blowout.
• When replacing tires, never mix bias-ply and radial tires on the same vehicle. You must replace all tires (including the spare tire).
• Using tire and wheel sizes other than those recommended may result in unusual handling and poor throttle control, which may lead to a serious accident.
• Wheels that do not meet HYUNDAI specifications may not fit and may damage the vehicle, and may result in unusual road conditions and poor vehicle handling.
• The ABS system compares wheel rotation speeds. Tire size can affect wheel rotation speed. When you replace tires, all 4 tires must be the same size as the original tires. Using tires of different sizes may cause abnormal operation of the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) (if equipped).

Compact Spare Tire Replacement

A compact spare tire has a shorter service life than a standard tire. It is for temporary use only. Replace it as soon as tread wear indicators appear. A replacement compact spare tire must be the same size and of the same material as the standard tire on your vehicle, and it must be installed on the same wheel as the compact spare tire. The compact spare tire is not designed to be installed on a wheel of normal size, and the compact spare tire is not designed for a normal-size tire.
