Tire Pressure Check
Check the tires at least once a month.
Also check the spare tire pressure.
Checking Procedure
Use a good-quality tire pressure gauge to check tire pressure. It is impossible to tell whether tire pressure is correct by simply looking at the tires. Radial tires may appear properly inflated even when they are under-inflated.
Check tire pressure when the tires are cold. The term "cold tires" means the vehicle has not been driven for at least three hours or has been driven less than 1.6 km (1 mile).
Remove the valve cap from the tire valve stem. To measure the pressure, firmly press the tire pressure gauge onto the valve. If the cold tire pressure matches the pressure recommended on the tire and the recommended tire pressure label, no adjustment is necessary. If the pressure is low, add air until it reaches the recommended pressure.
If you have over-inflated the tire, release air by pressing the metal pin in the center of the tire valve. Check the tire pressure again with the gauge. Make sure to reinstall the valve caps on the valve stems. They prevent leakage by keeping out dirt and moisture.
WARNING
- Check the tire inflation pressure regularly, as well as tire wear and damage. Always use a tire pressure gauge.
- Tire wear may be caused by excessively high or low tire pressure, which can result in poor handling, loss of vehicle control, and a sudden tire failure leading to an accident, injury, or even death. The recommended cold tire inflation pressures for your vehicle are shown in this manual and on the tire label located on the driver's side center pillar.
- Worn tires may cause an accident. Replace your tires when they are worn smooth, have uneven wear, or are damaged.
- Do not forget to check the spare tire pressure. HYUNDAI recommends checking the spare tire pressure each time you check the pressure of the other tires on your vehicle.
