Emergency Stop Signal (ESS)

~1min read

The Emergency Stop Signal system warns the driver behind by flashing the brake lights when the vehicle brakes suddenly and hard.

The system is activated when:

  • The vehicle stops suddenly (vehicle speed exceeds 55 km/h and vehicle deceleration is greater than 7 m/s²).
  • The ABS is activated.

When the vehicle speed is below 40 km/h and ABS is activated, or when the vehicle stops after an emergency stop, the brake lights turn off. Then the hazard warning lights turn on automatically. The hazard lights turn off when the vehicle restarts and accelerates above 10 km/h. They also turn off after some time when the vehicle moves slowly. You can turn them off manually by pressing the hazard warning light switch.
