DAW (Driver Attention Warning) System

When the "Check DAW (Driver Attention Warning) System" warning message appears, the system is not operating properly. In this case, we recommend having your vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

WARNING

  • The Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system does not replace safe driving; it is a convenience feature only. It is the driver's responsibility to always drive carefully to prevent unexpected and sudden situations from occurring. Always pay attention to road conditions.
  • The system may suggest a break based on the driver's driving style or habits, even if the driver does not feel tired.
  • A driver who feels tired should take a break even if the Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system does not suggest one.

NOTICE

The Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system uses a camera sensor mounted on the windshield for operation. To keep the camera sensor in the best condition, observe the following:

  • NEVER install any accessories or stickers on the windshield, or tint the windshield.
  • NEVER place reflective objects (such as white paper or a mirror) on top of the instrument panel. Any light reflection may cause the Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system to malfunction.
  • Be extremely careful to keep the camera sensor free of water.
  • NEVER disassemble the camera assembly or apply any impact to the camera assembly.
  • Do not temporarily disassemble the camera behind tinted windows or apply any type of coating or accessories.

If you disassemble the camera and reassemble it, we recommend that you take your vehicle to an authorized HYUNDAI service center and have the system inspected for calibration.

CAUTION

The Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system may not operate correctly with limited warning in the following situations:

  • Lane detection performance is limited. (For more information, refer to "Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) System" in this chapter.)
  • The vehicle is forced to steer or sharply turns to avoid obstacles (for example, construction areas, other vehicles, fallen objects, or a rough road).
  • Front steering control of the vehicle is severely impaired (possibly due to a large variation in tire pressure, uneven tire wear, or wheel alignment).
  • The vehicle is driven on a winding road.
  • The vehicle is driven in a windy area.
  • The vehicle is driven on a rough road.
  • The vehicle is equipped with the following driver assistance systems:
    - Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) system
    - Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system
    - Smart Cruise Control (SCC) system

CAUTION

Playing the vehicle audio system at high volume may mask the Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system warning sound.
