Hyundai i30. Lane departure warning (LDW) system

The Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system detects the lane using a windshield-mounted camera and warns you when your vehicle leaves its lane.

WARNING

The Lane Departure Warning system does not replace safe driving practices; it is only a convenience feature. It is the driver's responsibility to always stay alert to surroundings and control the vehicle.

WARNING

Observe the following precautions when using the Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system:

  • ALWAYS check your surroundings and road conditions before changing lanes. The LDW system does not control the vehicle to change lanes or stay in the current lane.
  • Do not make sudden maneuvers or turn the steering wheel abruptly if the LDW system warns you that the vehicle is departing from the lane.
  • If the camera recognition system does not correctly detect the lane, the LDW system may not warn you if the vehicle drifts out of its lane.
  • The LDW system does not operate until the vehicle speed reaches approximately 37 mph (60 km/h).
  • Do not disassemble the LDW system camera. Do not temporarily tint the window or attach any type of coatings and accessories. If you disassemble and reassemble the camera, we recommend that you take your vehicle to an authorized HYUNDAI dealer and have the system checked for calibration.
  • When replacing the windshield or the LDW system camera, we recommend that you take your vehicle to an authorized HYUNDAI service center and have the system checked for calibration.
  • Do not spray water or any type of liquid near the camera. The system may be damaged.
  • Do not attempt to repair the LDW system camera or remove any of its parts.
  • Do not place objects that reflect light on the instrument panel while driving.
  • Do not place any accessories near the inside rearview mirror.
  • You may not hear the LDW system warning sound due to excessive audio volume.
  • The operation of the LDW system may be affected by several factors, including environmental conditions that affect the camera's ability to detect lane markings ahead. It is the driver's responsibility to pay attention to the road and always keep the vehicle within its intended lane.
