Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) System

The Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) system uses a windshield-mounted camera to detect lane markings on the road and helps the driver with steering assistance to keep the vehicle centered between the lanes.
When the system detects the vehicle drifting out of its lane, it warns the driver with a visual and audible warning, while applying light counter-steering torque to try to prevent the vehicle from leaving its lane.
WARNING
The Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) system does not replace safe driving practices; it is a convenience feature. It is the driver's responsibility to always stay alert to surroundings and control the vehicle.
WARNING
Observe the following precautions when using the Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) system:
- Do not turn the steering wheel suddenly while the steering wheel is receiving assistance from the system.
- The LKA system helps prevent the driver from unintentionally leaving the lane by assisting the driver in steering the vehicle. However, the driver must not rely solely on the system and must always pay attention to the steering wheel to stay in the lane.
- LKA operation may be canceled or may not function properly depending on road and surrounding conditions. Always drive with caution.
- Do not disassemble the LKA system camera, temporarily tint the window, or attach any kind of coating or accessories. If the camera is disassembled and reinstalled, we recommend taking your vehicle to an authorized HYUNDAI dealer to have the system inspected and calibrated.
- When replacing the windshield, the LKA system camera, or related parts or steering wheel, we recommend that you take your vehicle to an authorized HYUNDAI dealer and have the system inspected and calibrated.
- The system detects lane markers and controls steering with the camera; therefore, if lane markings are difficult to detect, the system may not operate properly. Refer to the "System Limitations" section.
- Do not remove or damage the related parts of the LKA system.
- You may not hear the LKA system warning sound due to excessive noise.
- Do not place items on the instrument panel that reflect light, such as mirrors, white paper, etc. The system may malfunction if sunlight is reflected.
- If you attach objects to the steering wheel, the system may not assist steering or the hands-off warning may not operate properly.
- You may not hear the LKA warning sound due to excessive noise.
- While other warning sounds, such as the seat belt reminder warning and the LKA override warning, sound, the LKA warning sounds may not be heard.
- If you continue driving with your hands off the steering wheel, LKA will stop controlling the steering wheel after the warning sounds. After that, if you drive with your hands on the steering wheel, control will be activated again.
- If the vehicle speed is high, the steering assist torque will not be sufficient to keep your vehicle in the lane. If so, the vehicle may drift out of its lane. Observe the speed limit when using LKA.
