Battery Sensor Deactivation

The battery sensor is deactivated when the battery is disconnected from the negative terminal for service purposes.
In this case, the ISG system operation is limited by battery sensor deactivation. Therefore, the driver must perform the following procedure to reactivate the battery sensor after disconnecting the battery.
Conditions for Reactivating the Battery Sensor
Keep the engine off for 4 hours, then try to restart the engine 3-4 times to reactivate the battery sensor.
Be extremely careful not to connect any accessories (for example, navigation or black box) to the vehicle with the engine off. Otherwise, the battery sensor cannot be reactivated.
Information
The ISG system may not operate in the following situations.
- A malfunction in the ISG system.
- Weak battery.
- Low brake system vacuum pressure.
In these cases, we recommend that your ISG system be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI service center.
NOTICE
- Use only genuine ISG battery for replacement. Otherwise, the ISG system will usually not operate.
- Do not recharge the ISG battery with a conventional battery charger. Otherwise, the ISG battery may be damaged or explode.
- Do not remove the battery compartment cover. Otherwise, battery electrolyte, which is harmful to the human body, may leak.
