In this manual: Driving Your Vehicle
~2min read
The sensor may be limited when:
- The camera recognition system may not fully recognize a pedestrian, for example, if the pedestrian is leaning or is not fully upright.
- The pedestrian moves very quickly or suddenly appears within the camera detection zone.
- The pedestrian is wearing clothing that easily blends with the background, making detection by the camera recognition system difficult.
- It is difficult to detect a pedestrian and distinguish them from other objects in the surroundings, for example, when there is a group of pedestrians or a large crowd.
- There is an object resembling the shape of a human body.
- The pedestrian is small.
- The pedestrian has limited mobility.
- Sensor recognition is limited.
- The radar sensor or camera is blocked by a foreign object or debris
- Severe weather, such as heavy rain or snow, obstructs the field of view of the radar sensor or camera
- The external lighting is too bright (for example, when driving in bright sunlight) or too dark (for example, when driving on a dark rural road at night).
- When light from a street lamp or an oncoming vehicle is reflected on a wet road surface, such as a puddle on the road.
- The forward field of view is restricted by sun glare.
- The windshield is fogged; a clear view of the road is obstructed.
- Adverse road conditions cause excessive vehicle vibration while driving.
WARNING
- Do not use the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system when towing a vehicle. Using the FCA system while towing may adversely affect the safety of your vehicle or the tow vehicle.
- Exercise extreme caution if the vehicle ahead has a load extending rearward from the cab, or when the vehicle ahead has a high ground clearance.
- The FCA system is designed to detect and track a vehicle moving ahead, or to help detect a pedestrian in the roadway using radar and camera signals. It is not designed to detect bicycles, motorcycles, or small wheeled objects such as luggage bags, shopping carts, or baby strollers.
- Never attempt to test the operation of the FCA system. This may result in serious injury or death.
Information
In some cases, the FCA system may be canceled due to electromagnetic interference.
