Check Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist System
- If the FCA system does not operate properly, the FCA indicator light (
) will illuminate and the warning message will appear for several seconds. After the message disappears, the master warning light (
) will illuminate. In this case, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer. - The FCA warning message may appear together with the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) indicator light.
Both the FCA indicator light and the warning message will disappear once the ESC indicator light problem is resolved.
WARNING
- FCA is only an auxiliary system for driver convenience. It is the driver's responsibility to control the operation of the vehicle. Do not rely solely on the FCA system. Instead, maintain a safe braking distance and, if necessary, depress the brake pedal to reduce driving speed or stop the vehicle.
- In certain cases and under certain driving conditions, the FCA system may activate prematurely. In this case, a warning message appears on the LCD display and a warning chime sounds. Also, due to perception limitations, in certain situations the front radar sensor or camera recognition system may not detect a vehicle or pedestrian ahead. The FCA system may not activate and the warning message may not be displayed.
- If there is a malfunction in the FCA system, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system will not operate, even though the brake system is operating normally.
- If the vehicle ahead stops suddenly, you may have less control of the braking system. Therefore, always keep a safe distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.
- The FCA system may activate during braking, and the vehicle may stop suddenly, causing unsecured items to move toward the passengers. Always keep unsecured items secured.
- The FCA system may not activate if the driver applies the brake pedal to avoid a collision.
- Braking control may be insufficient, which may result in a collision if the vehicle ahead stops suddenly. Always exercise extreme caution.
- The FCA system may not activate depending on road conditions, inclement weather, driving conditions, or traffic conditions.
- Passengers may be injured if the vehicle stops suddenly when the FCA system is activated. Exercise extreme caution.
- The FCA system only operates to detect vehicles and pedestrians in front of the vehicle.
WARNING
- The FCA system only operates to help detect vehicles or pedestrians in front of the vehicle.
- The FCA system does not operate when the vehicle is in reverse.
- The FCA system is not designed to detect other objects on the road, such as animals.
- The FCA system does not detect vehicles in the oncoming lane.
- The FCA system does not detect crossing vehicles approaching from the side.
- The FCA system cannot detect approaching cyclists at an intersection.
- The FCA system cannot detect vehicles that are stopped across your vehicle at an intersection or dead-end street.
In these cases, maintain a safe braking distance and, if necessary, press the brake pedal to reduce driving speed, maintain a safe distance, or stop the vehicle.
