Tire Replacement

~2min read
Hyundai Palisade. Tire Replacement

If the tire is wearing evenly, the tread wear indicator will appear as a solid band across the tread. This shows that less than 2/32 inch (1.6 mm) of tread depth remains on the tire. Replace the tire when this occurs.

Do not wait until the tread surface is level with the tread wear indicators before replacing the tire.

CAUTION

After replacing tires, re-check and retighten the wheel nuts after approximately 600 miles (1000 km). If the steering wheel vibrates or the vehicle vibrates while driving, the tire may be out of balance. Balance the tire. If the problem is not resolved, contact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY:

  • Replace worn tires, tires with uneven wear, or damaged tires. Worn tires can result in loss of braking effectiveness, steering control, and traction.
  • Always replace tires with the same size as each tire originally supplied with this vehicle. Using tires and wheels other than the recommended sizes may cause unusual handling characteristics, poor vehicle control, or negatively affect the performance of your vehicle's Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), which may result in a serious accident.
  • Tires deteriorate over time, even when they are not used. Regardless of remaining tread, HYUNDAI recommends that tires be replaced after six (6) years of normal service.
  • When replacing tires (or wheels), it is recommended to replace the two front or the two rear tires (or wheels) as a pair. Replacing only one tire may seriously affect the handling of your vehicle. If only one pair of tires is replaced, it is recommended to install the pair of new tires on the rear axle.
  • Heat caused by hot climates or frequent high-load conditions may accelerate the aging process. Failure to heed this warning may cause sudden tire failure, which may result in loss of vehicle control and cause an accident.

Compact Spare Tire Replacement

The compact spare tire has a shorter tread life than a regular-size tire. Replace it when you see the tread wear indicator bars on the tire. The replacement compact spare tire must be the same size and design as the one supplied with your new vehicle and must be installed on the same compact spare wheel. The compact spare wheel is not designed for installation on a regular-size wheel, and the compact spare tire is not designed for mounting on a regular-size wheel.

WARNING

The original tire must be repaired or replaced as soon as possible to avoid losing the spare and losing control of the vehicle as a result of an accident. Use the compact spare tire for emergency use only. Do not drive your vehicle faster than 50 mph (80 km/h) when using the compact spare tire.
