Diagnosis using the diagnostic tool
  1. The electrical system malfunctions can be quickly diagnosed using the vehicle diagnostic system (Diagnostic tool). The diagnostic system (diagnostic tool) provides the following information.
    1. DTC Search: Check malfunction and diagnostic trouble code (DTC)
    2. Data Analysis: Check the input/output data status of the system
    3. Actuation Test: Check the system operating status
    4. S/W Management: Control other functions, including system parameter setting and zero point adjustment
  2. To diagnose the vehicle using the diagnostic tool, select "DTC Analysis" and "Vehicle".

Mode Change (Power Tailgate System) System Initialization. System initialization is required to recognize the closed position of the liftgate to the tailgate module. After battery power reset, system initialization is required to accurately determine the maximum open and closed positions of the tailgate. The power tailgate operates normally after system initialization is complete. Procedure: Inspection and Testing — Power Tailgate System. The power tailgate system is a complex system consisting of several components. To obtain accurate inspection results, the power tailgate control module must be inspected. The most reliable, efficient and accurate method is to use the scan tool. The power tailgate requires a scan tool. The scan tool assists technicians in inspecting the disconnected switch and allows checking the recorded current status of the power tailgate control module switch. The battery must be fully charged before performing all power tailgate tests, and all interfering system elements must be shown and understood. (See Smart Liftgate description.) Refer to the analysis reference table when inspecting and testing the smart liftgate.
