Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW)

If a vehicle is detected by the sensors approaching the rear left/right side of your vehicle, a warning chime will sound, the warning light on the outside rearview mirror will flash, and a warning message will appear on the LCD display. If the rear view monitor system is activated, the warning will also appear on the infotainment system screen.
The warning will stop when:
- the detected vehicle leaves the detection zone, or
- the vehicle is directly behind your vehicle, or
- the vehicle is no longer approaching your vehicle, or
- the other vehicle slows down.

If a collision risk is detected while RCCW is operating, brake control is activated. The instrument cluster will inform the driver of brake control. If the rear view monitor system is activated, a message will also appear on the infotainment screen.
After brake control is activated, the driver must immediately depress the brake pedal and look around.
- Brake control by the system lasts about 2 seconds. The driver should be aware that brake control is released after 2 seconds.
- Brake control by the system is cancelled if the driver depresses the brake pedal with sufficient force.
- Brake control is activated once for each right/left approach after shifting into R (Reverse).
Brake control may not operate properly depending on the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) status. The same warning message appears on the instrument cluster when:
- The ESC (Electronic Stability Control) warning light is illuminated.
- The ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is operating another function.
CAUTION
- When the operating conditions of the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning system are satisfied, a warning will occur each time a vehicle approaches the side or rear of your stopped vehicle (at 0 mph vehicle speed).
- The warning system may not operate properly if the left or right rear bumper of your vehicle is blocked by a vehicle or obstacle.
- Always pay attention to the road and driving conditions while driving, regardless of whether the warning indicator on the outside rearview mirror is illuminated or a warning alarm sounds.
- Playing the vehicle audio system at high volume may prevent the occupants from hearing the system warning sound.
- If another warning sound, such as the unbuckled seat belt warning chime, has already been generated, the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning system may not sound.
WARNING
- Drive safely even if your vehicle is equipped with the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning system and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system. Do not rely solely on the system; check your surroundings when backing up your vehicle.
- The driver is responsible for controlling the brake accurately.
- Always exercise extreme caution while driving. The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist systems may malfunction or may not operate as needed depending on traffic and driving conditions.
- The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system does not replace safe driving practices; it is a convenience feature only. It is the driver's responsibility to always drive carefully to prevent unexpected and sudden situations from occurring. Always pay attention to road conditions.
