Operating the Vehicle

Hazardous Road Conditions

~1min read

On hazardous road conditions, such as when the road is covered with water, snow, ice, mud, sand, or similar, observe the following recommendations:

• Drive the vehicle carefully and increase your braking distance.
• Avoid sudden actions when operating the brake pedal or steering wheel.
• When braking in a vehicle not equipped with ABS, pump the brake pedal, which should be accompanied by the warning lamp turning on and off, until the vehicle stops.

WARNING

- ABs

Do not pump the brake pedal on vehicles equipped with ABS.

• If the vehicle is stuck in snow, mud, or sand, use second gear. Apply the accelerator pedal smoothly, avoiding wheel spin of the driving wheels.
• If the driving wheels spin on ice, snow, or mud, place sand, rock salt, tire chains, or other non-slip materials under the driving wheels to improve traction.

WARNING

- Downshifting

Downshifting an automatic transmission on a slippery road may cause an accident. A sudden change in wheel rotational speed may cause the wheel to spin. Be careful when downshifting on slippery roads.
