Driving in Rain

~1min read

Rain and wet roads can be dangerous for driving, especially if you are not prepared for slippery road surfaces. When driving in the rain, keep the following in mind:

• Heavy rain significantly reduces visibility and increases braking distance, so reduce your speed.
• Keep the windshield wipers in good condition.

Replace the wiper blades if they begin to streak or fail to clear parts of the windshield during operation.
• Worn tires may spin on wet road surfaces during sudden braking and cause a traffic accident. Keep the tires in good condition.
• Turn on the headlights so other drivers can see you more easily.
• Driving too quickly through large puddles may affect the brake system. When you must drive through puddles, drive slowly.
• If you believe the brakes have become wet, lightly apply the brake pedal several times while driving until normal braking performance is restored.
