Auto Hold

~2min read

Auto Hold keeps the vehicle stationary even if the brake pedal is not depressed, after the driver brings the vehicle to a complete stop by depressing the brake pedal.

Information

When the vehicle is restarted, the last applied Auto Hold setting is retained.

To apply:

Enter

Type B

1. With the driver's door, hood, and tailgate (vehicles equipped with Shift button) closed, press the AUTO HOLD switch. The white AUTO HOLD indicator illuminates and the system is in standby mode.

2. When you bring the vehicle to a complete stop by depressing the brake pedal, Auto Hold maintains brake pressure to keep the vehicle stationary. The indicator changes from white to green.

The vehicle remains stationary even when you release the brake pedal.

To release:

If you depress the accelerator pedal with the transmission in D (Drive), manual shift mode, or R (Reverse) (vehicles equipped with Shift button), Auto Hold is automatically released and the vehicle starts to move. The AUTO HOLD indicator changes from green to white.

WARNING

Always check your surroundings before depressing the accelerator pedal to release Auto Hold.

To cancel:

1. Depress and hold the brake pedal.

2. Press the AUTO HOLD switch.

The AUTO HOLD indicator turns off.

WARNING

To prevent unintended vehicle movement, always depress the brake pedal to cancel Auto Hold before:

  • Driving down a slope.
  • Operating the vehicle in R (Reverse).
  • Parking the vehicle.

Information

  • Auto Hold does not operate when:
    - The driver's door or hood is open.
    - The tailgate is open (for vehicles equipped with Shift button).
    - The transmission is in P (Park).
    - The transmission is in R (Reverse) (for vehicles with shift lever).
    - The EPB is applied.
  • Auto Hold automatically switches to the EPB when:
    - The driver's door or hood is open.
    - The vehicle has been stationary for more than 10 minutes.
    - The vehicle is on a steep slope.
    - The vehicle has moved several times.
    - The tailgate is open.

The parking brake indicator light illuminates, the AUTO HOLD indicator changes from green to white, a warning sounds, and a message informs you that the EPB has been applied automatically. Before driving, depress the brake pedal, check your surroundings, and release the parking brake manually with the EPB switch.

NOTICE

If the AUTO HOLD indicator changes to yellow, or if the driver's door, hood, or tailgate open detection system is malfunctioning, the Auto Hold function will not operate properly. Contact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
