WARNING
Fuel is highly flammable and explosive. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death:
- Read and follow all warnings posted at the filling station.
- Before refueling, note the location of the emergency fuel shut-off, if available, at the filling station.
- Before touching the fuel nozzle, eliminate possible static electricity buildup by touching a metal part of the vehicle a safe distance away from the fuel filler neck, nozzle, or other fuel source with your bare hand.
- Do not use mobile phones while refueling. Electrical current and/or electronic interference from mobile phones may ignite fuel vapors and cause a fire.
- Do not re-enter the vehicle once you have started refueling. You may create a static electricity buildup by touching, rubbing, or sliding against any object or fabric capable of generating static electricity. A static electricity discharge may ignite fuel vapors and cause a fire. If you must re-enter the vehicle, again eliminate potentially dangerous static electricity by touching a metal part of the vehicle a safe distance away from the fuel filler neck, nozzle, or other fuel source with your bare hand.
- When using an approved portable fuel container, always place the container on the ground before refueling. A static electricity discharge from the container may ignite fuel vapors and cause a fire. After refueling has started, do not make contact between your bare hand and the vehicle until refueling is complete.
- Use only approved portable plastic fuel containers designed for transporting and storing fuel.
- When refueling, always shift the shift lever to P (Park), apply the parking brake, and turn the ignition switch to the LOCK/OFF position. Sparks generated by electrical components related to the engine may ignite fuel vapors and cause a fire.
- Do not use matches or a lighter, and do not smoke or leave a lit cigarette in your vehicle at the filling station, especially during refueling.
- Do not overfill the fuel tank, as this may cause fuel to spill.
- If a fire occurs during refueling, move away from the vehicle and immediately notify the filling station attendant, then contact the local fire department.
- If pressurized fuel sprays out, it may cover your clothing or skin and increase the risk of fire and burns. If fuel is released from the cap or you hear a hissing sound, wait until the condition stops before fully removing the cap.
- Always make sure the fuel filler cap is installed securely to prevent fuel spillage in the event of a collision.
NOTICE
- Do not spill fuel on exterior surfaces. This may damage the paint.
- If the cap needs to be replaced, use only genuine HYUNDAI caps, or the fuel system or emission control system may malfunction.
