If a collision risk is detected while RCCW is generated, braking is controlled. The instrument cluster will notify the driver that the brake is being controlled. If the rear view monitor system is active, a message will also appear on the infotainment system display.
After brake control, the driver must immediately depress the brake pedal and check the surroundings.
- Braking by the system lasts only about 2 seconds. The driver should pay attention to the brake being released after this time.
- Brake control by the system is cancelled if the driver presses the pedal with sufficient force.
- Brake control is activated once for each right/left approach after shifting the gear selector lever to the R (Reverse) position.
Brake control may not operate properly depending on the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) status. The same warning message is also displayed on the instrument cluster in this case.
- When the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) indicator light is on.
- When the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is performing another function.
- When the operating conditions of the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning are met, the warning will occur each time a vehicle approaches from the side or rear of the stopped vehicle (0 km/h vehicle speed).
- The driver must always exercise extreme caution when operating the vehicle, regardless of whether the warning indicator on the outside rearview mirror is illuminated or a warning alarm is sounding.
- Playing the vehicle audio system at high volume may prevent you from hearing the system warning sounds.
CAUTION
- The warning system or brake may not operate properly if the left/right rear bumper of your vehicle is covered by a vehicle or obstacle.
- The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning may not sound while other warning sounds are active.
- If another warning sound, such as the seat belt reminder warning sound, has already been generated, the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning may not sound.
WARNING
- Drive safely even if the vehicle is equipped with Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist. Do not rely solely on the system, but check your surroundings when backing up the vehicle.
- The driver is responsible for controlling the brake accurately.
- Always exercise extreme caution while driving. Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist may not operate properly or may act unnecessarily depending on your driving situations.
- Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist is not a substitute for safe driving; it is a convenience feature only. It is always the driver's responsibility to drive carefully to prevent unexpected and sudden situations. Always pay attention to road conditions.
