Smart Cruise Control is temporarily canceled when the brake pedal is pressed or the CANCEL button is pressed. The speed and distance indicator on the cluster disappears and the Cruise indicator (
CRUISE) remains on continuously.
Canceled Automatically
SCC is automatically canceled in the following situations:
- The driver door is opened.
- The shift lever is in N (Neutral), R (Reverse), or P (Park).
- EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) is applied.
- Vehicle speed is above 120 km/h.
- ESC, ABS, or TCS is operating.
- ESC is turned off.
- The sensor or cover is contaminated or blocked by foreign matter.
- The accelerator pedal is depressed continuously for a long time.
- The engine speed is in a dangerous range.
- SCC has malfunctioned.
- When Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist braking control is operating.
- The vehicle stops and starts repeatedly over a long period of time.
- When the parking brake is applied.
- The engine has some problems.
Any of these actions will cancel SCC operation. (The set speed on the cluster is displayed in gray, and the distance indicator to the vehicle ahead disappears.)
When Smart Cruise Control is automatically canceled, Smart Cruise Control will not operate even if the RES+ or SET- switch is pressed.
EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) is applied when the SCC automatic release condition occurs during SCC use.
CAUTION
If Smart Cruise Control is deactivated for other reasons mentioned, have the system checked by an authorized Kia dealer.

CAUTION
If the system is automatically canceled, a warning chime will sound and a message will appear for several seconds.
You must adjust the vehicle speed by pressing the accelerator pedal or brake pedal depending on the road conditions ahead and the driving conditions.
Always check road conditions. Do not rely on the forward collision warning.
