Repair Procedures

Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. Remove the engine room cover.

(See Engine and Transaxle Assembly - Under Hood)

  3. Drain the engine coolant.

(Refer to Cooling System - "Engine Coolant")

  4. Remove the air cleaner assembly.

(See Intake and Exhaust System - Air Cleaner)

  5. Remove the cooling fan.

(See Cooling System - Cooling Fan)

  6. Remove the radiator upper hose (A).

  7. Remove the lower radiator hose (A).

  8. Remove the front bumper assembly.

(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "Front Bumper Assembly")

  9. Remove the intercooler.

(See Intake and Exhaust System - Intercooler)

  10. Remove the hood latch.

(See Body (Interior and Exterior) - Hood Latch)

  11. Remove the air duct (A).

    Tightening torque:

    3.9–5.9 N·m (0.4–0.6 kgf·m, 2.9–4.3 ft·lbf, 35.4–53.1 in·lbf)

    [LH]

  12. Remove the air duct (A).

    Tightening torque:

    3.9–5.9 N·m (0.4–0.6 kgf·m, 2.9–4.3 ft·lbf, 35.4–53.1 in·lbf)

  13. Remove the radiator upper mounting bracket (A).

    Tightening torque: 7.8–11.8 N·m

    [RH]

    [LH]

  14. Remove the radiator (A) from the condenser.

  15. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  16. Fill the radiator with engine coolant.

(Refer to Cooling System - "Engine Coolant")

  17. Start the engine and check for leaks.

Inspection

Radiator Cap

  1. Remove the radiator cap, moisten its seal with engine coolant, then install it on the radiator cap tester.

  2. Apply pressure of 93.16–122.58 kPa (0.95–1.25 kgf/cm², 13.51–17.78 psi).

  3. Check for pressure drop.

  4. If the pressure drops, replace the radiator cap.

Radiator Leak Test

  1. Wait until the engine cools, then carefully remove the radiator cap and fill the radiator with engine coolant, then install it on the pressure tester.

  2. Apply pressure of 93.16–122.58 kPa (0.95–1.25 kgf/cm², 13.51–17.78 psi) with the pressure tester.

  3. Check for engine coolant leaks and pressure drop.

  4. If there is a coolant leak or pressure drop, replace the component.
