Opening the Tailgate

• The liftgate is locked or unlocked when all doors are locked or unlocked with the key, transmitter (or smart key), or power door lock switch.
• If the liftgate is unlocked, it can be opened by pressing the switch on the handle and then pulling the handle up.
• Only the liftgate unlocks if the liftgate unlock button on the smart key is pressed (if equipped). When the liftgate is opened and then closed, the liftgate locks automatically.

✽ NOTICE

In cold and humid climates, the door lock and door mechanisms may not operate properly due to freezing conditions.

WARNING

The tailgate swings upward. Make sure there are no objects or people near the rear of the vehicle when opening the tailgate.

CAUTION

Make sure to close the liftgate before driving the vehicle. The lift cylinders and attached parts may be damaged if the liftgate is not closed before driving.
