Vehicle Care
Main Notes
Chemicals such as perfume, cosmetic oil, sunscreen, hand cleaner, and air freshener must not come into contact with interior parts, as they can damage or discolor them. If such substances nevertheless reach interior parts, wipe them off immediately. Use a plastic cleaner if necessary and observe the instructions for correct use.
DANGER
Do not allow water or other liquids to reach electrical/electronic components in the vehicle interior, as this may cause damage.
DANGER
Use neutral detergents or low-alcohol cleaning solutions to clean leather products (steering wheel, seats, etc.). If you use solutions with a high alcohol content, or acidic or alkaline cleaners, the leather may discolor or the surface may separate.
Leather Seat Care
- Vacuum the seats regularly to remove dust and sand. This prevents scuffs or damage to the leather and maintains its quality.
- Wipe genuine leather seat covers with a dry, soft cloth.
- Regular use of leather protectant may cause rubbing, prevent proper grip, and change the color. Always follow the instructions, and consult a professional if you want to use leather lacquers or leather care products.
- Light-colored leather (beige, cream-beige) easily becomes dirty and develops shiny spots. Clean the seats more often.
- Do not wipe them with a wet cloth. This may cause cracks to form on the surface.
Cleaning Leather Seats
- Remove contaminants immediately. Follow the instructions below to remove dirt.
- Cosmetics (sunscreen, makeup, etc.)
- Apply cleansing cream with a cloth and wipe the soiled area. Wipe off the cream with a damp cloth, then remove it with a dry cloth and water. - Beverages (coffee, soft drinks, etc.)
- Apply a small amount of neutral detergent and wipe off the residue without spreading it. - Oil
- Immediately remove the oil with an absorbent cloth, then wipe the area with a stain remover for natural leather. - Chewing gum
- Harden the chewing gum with ice, then carefully remove it.
Precautions for Use of Textile Seat Covers (depending on equipment)
Vacuum the textile seats regularly, according to the properties of the textile material. For heavy soiling or beverage stains, use a suitable cleaning agent. To avoid damaging the seat covers, wipe the seat covers in large circular motions with light pressure, up to the seams. Use a soft sponge or microfiber cloth. Hook-and-loop fasteners on clothing or sharp objects may pull threads or scratch the seat surface. Be careful not to wipe the surface with such objects.
Seat Cleaning and Interior Design
Vinyl
Remove dust and loose dirt from vinyl surfaces with a brush or vacuum cleaner. Clean vinyl surfaces with a special vinyl cleaner.
Material
Remove dust and loose dirt from fabric surfaces with a brush or vacuum cleaner. Clean fabric seat covers with a mild upholstery or carpet cleaner. Remove fresh stains immediately with a suitable stain remover. If stains are not removed immediately, they may set and cause discoloration. Seat covers are flame-retardant. Improper care may damage this item and affect its flame-retardant properties.
DANGER
Use of unapproved cleaning agents and methods may cause seat covers to become unsightly and affect the flame-retardant property.
Cleaning Seat Belts
Clean the seat belt webbing with a mild soap solution. Carpet cleaner is not recommended. Follow the instructions on the soap. Do not dye or bleach seat belts, as this may weaken the belt material.
Clean the inside of the windows.
If the inside of the vehicle windows has a lubricating film (grease, wax, etc.), clean them with a glass cleaner. Observe the glass cleaner manufacturer's instructions.
DANGER
Do not scratch or scrape the inside of the rear window. This may damage the rear window defroster grid.
