Cruise control allows you to set the vehicle to maintain a constant speed without keeping your foot on the accelerator pedal.

The cruise control is designed to operate above approximately 40 km/h.

WARNING
  • If the cruise control is left on (CRUISE indicator lit on the instrument panel), the cruise control could engage accidentally. Keep the cruise control off (CRUISE indicator off on the instrument panel) when you are not using it, to avoid setting a speed by mistake.
  • Use cruise control only on open roads in good weather.
  • Do not use cruise control when it may be dangerous to keep the vehicle at a constant speed, such as in heavy traffic, on winding or slippery roads (rain, ice, snow), or on grades steeper than 6%.
  • Pay particular attention to road conditions when using cruise control.
  • Be careful when driving downhill while the cruise control system is engaged, as the vehicle speed may increase.
CAUTION

On a vehicle with a manual transmission, when driving at cruising speed, do not shift to neutral without first pressing the clutch pedal, or the engine will overrev. If this happens, press the clutch pedal or the cruise control switch.

NOTICE

During normal use of cruise control, if you press the SET switch or resume switch after applying the brakes, cruise control resumes after about 3 seconds. This delay is normal.

Pour régler le régulateur à une vitesse

To set the cruise control to a speed:

  1. Press the CRUISE ON-OFF button on the steering wheel to turn on cruise control. The CRUISE indicator lights up on the instrument panel.
  2. Accelerate to the desired speed, which should be between 40 km/h.
Pour régler le régulateur à une vitesse

  1. Push the lever (1) down (to SET-) and release it once the desired speed is reached. The SET indicator lights up on the instrument panel. Release the accelerator at the same time. The set speed will be maintained automatically.

On a steep grade, the vehicle may slow down going uphill or speed up slightly going downhill.

Pour augmenter la vitesse réglée

To increase the set speed:

Do one of the following:

  • Pull the lever (1) up (to RES+) and hold it up. The vehicle will accelerate.
Release the button when the desired speed is reached.
  • Pull the lever (1) up (to RES+) and release it immediately. The cruising speed increases by 1.6 km/h each time the lever is used this way.
  • Pour réduire la vitesse réglée

    To decrease the set speed:

    Do one of the following:

    • Push the lever (1) down (to SET-) and hold it down. The vehicle will slow down gradually. Release the lever once the desired speed is reached.
    • Push the lever (1) down (to SET-) and release it immediately. The cruising speed decreases by 1.6 km/h each time the lever is used this way.

To accelerate temporarily while cruise control is on:

If you want to accelerate temporarily while cruise control is on, press the accelerator pedal. The higher speed does not affect the cruise control setting.

To return to the set speed, simply release the accelerator pedal.

Pour désengager le régulateur de vitesse, procédez d'une de ces façons

To disengage cruise control, do one of the following:

    • Press the brake pedal.
    • With a manual transmission, press the clutch pedal.
    • With an automatic transmission, move the shift lever to N (neutral).
    • Press the CANCEL button.
    • Reduce the vehicle speed 15 km/h below the memorized speed.
    • Reduce the vehicle speed to below about 40 km/h.

Each of these actions will disengage cruise control (the SET indicator on the instrument panel goes off), but does not turn cruise control off.

To return to the cruising speed, pull the lever up (to RES+). The vehicle will return to the previously set speed.

Pour ramener la vitesse de croisière à plus de 40 km/h (25 mi/h) environ

To resume the cruising speed above about 40 km/h:

If you disengaged cruise control in a way other than pressing CRUISE ON-OFF and cruise control is still on, the vehicle will return to the most recently set speed if you press RES+.

It will not re-engage, however, if the speed has been reduced to below about 40 km/h.

    NOTICE

Always check road conditions before engaging RES+ to resume cruising speed.

Pour mettre le régulateur hors circuit, procédez de l'une de ces façons

To turn cruise control off, do one of the following:

    • Press the CRUISE ON-OFF button (the CRUISE indicator goes off on the instrument panel).
    • Turn the ignition off.

Either of these actions turns cruise control off. If you want to use cruise control again, repeat the steps under "To set the cruise control to a speed" on the previous page.
