Vehicle weight
This section will help you load your vehicle and a trailer correctly, so that the loaded vehicle weight stays within the permitted limits, with or without a trailer. Loading the vehicle correctly will help it perform as originally designed. Before loading the vehicle, take the time to study the following weight terms, with or without a trailer, which are found in the vehicle specifications and on the certification label:
Curb weight
This is the weight of the vehicle including a full tank of fuel and all standard equipment. It does not include passengers, luggage or optional equipment.
Curb Weight
This is the weight of the vehicle as delivered from the dealer, including any aftermarket equipment.
Payload
This figure includes all weight added to the curb weight, including luggage and optional equipment.
Gross Axle Weight (GAW) This is the total weight applied to each axle (front and rear), including the curb weight and any load.
Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR)
This is the maximum permissible weight that can be carried by one axle (front or rear). This value is shown on the certification label.
The total load on each axle must never exceed the GAWR.
Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) This is the curb weight plus the actual weight of the load and passengers.
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) This is the maximum permissible weight of the loaded vehicle (including options, equipment, passengers and cargo). The GVWR is shown on the certification label, on the driver's door pillar.
Towing a trailer
It is not recommended to use this vehicle to tow a trailer.
