1. Pull the release lever to unlatch the hood. The hood will pop up slightly.

WARNING Open the hood after turning off the engine and parking the vehicle on level ground, with the shift lever in P (Park) for automatic transmission [or R (Reverse) or 1st gear for manual transmission] and the parking brake applied.

2. Go to the front of the vehicle, lift the hood slightly, pull the safety catch (1) located at the center underside, and lift the hood (2).

3. Remove the support rod from the hood.
4. Secure the hood in the open position with the support rod.

WARNING - High temperature components Grasp the rubber-coated part of the support rod.

When the engine is hot, the rubber grip prevents burns from the heat of the metal.
