NOTE In cold and humid weather conditions, the power windows may not operate properly due to freezing.

Power windows (if equipped)

To operate the power windows, the ignition switch must be in the ON position. Each door has a switch for operating its window. However, the driver has a lockout switch that disables the passengers' windows.

After removing the ignition key, or after turning it to "ACC" or "LOCK", the power windows can be operated for about 30 seconds. However, if either front door is opened, the power windows cannot be operated even during the 30 seconds after the key is removed.

(if equipped)

NOTE While driving with the rear windows lowered or the sunroof (if equipped) open (or partially open), you may hear buffeting or pulsating air noise. This noise is normal and can be reduced or eliminated as described below. If the noise is caused by the lowered rear windows, lower both front windows slightly, about 3 cm. If the noise comes from the open sunroof, reduce the opening slightly.

Opening and closing the window The driver's door has a power window switch assembly that controls all the windows.

To open or close a window, press down or pull up the front part of the corresponding switch to the first detent (5).

Driver's window automatic down (if equipped) (driver's side) Briefly press the power window switch to the second detent (6), and the window will fully lower even after the switch is released. To stop the window at the desired position during travel, briefly pull the switch up.

Driver's window automatic up/down (if equipped) (driver's side) Briefly press or pull up the power window switch to the second detent (6), and the window will fully lower or raise even after the switch is released. To stop the window at the desired position during travel, pull the switch up or briefly press it in the opposite direction of the movement.

If the power windows do not operate properly, reset the system as follows:

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Close the driver's window and keep pulling the switch up for at least 1 second after the window is fully closed.

Automatic reverse (if equipped) If an object or part of the body prevents the window from closing, the resistance is detected and the window stops closing. The window then lowers 30 cm to allow the object to be removed.

If the window meets some resistance while the power window switch is held up, the window stops its closing travel and lowers about 2.5 cm. If the power window switch is pulled up continuously again within 5 seconds of the automatic reverse function activating, the function will not reactivate.

NOTE The driver's window automatic down function is only active when using the "auto up" function by pulling the switch upward. The automatic down function does not operate if the window is raised using the intermediate position of the window switch.

CAUTION Before closing a window, always check for obstacles to avoid personal injury or vehicle damage. If an object less than 4 mm in diameter becomes trapped between the glass and the upper window channel, its resistance may not be detected and the automatic reverse function will not activate.

Power window lock button (if equipped)

For Europe The driver can disable the rear door power window switches by moving the power window lock button to the locked (pressed-in) position.

When the power window lock switch is pressed:

  • The driver's switch group can operate all power windows.
  • The front passenger's switch group can operate the front passenger power window.
  • The rear passenger switch group cannot operate the rear passenger power window.

Except Europe The driver can disable the front passenger door and rear door power window switches by moving the power window lock button to the locked (pressed-in) position.

When the power window lock switch is pressed, the front passenger door and rear door power windows cannot be operated using the driver's switch group.

WARNING

  • To avoid possible damage to the power window system, do not open or close two windows at the same time.

This also helps extend the life of the fuse.

  • Never try to operate the driver's master switch and the individual door window switches in opposite directions at the same time.
  • In this case, the window will stop and cannot be opened or closed.

    WARNING - Power windows

    • Never leave the keys in the vehicle when unattended children are present and the engine is running.
    • NEVER leave children unattended in the vehicle. Also, young children may accidentally set the vehicle in motion, become trapped in the windows, or injure themselves or others.
    • Before closing a window, always check twice that there are no hands, arms or face in the path of the window.
    • Do not allow children to play with the power windows. Keep the driver's door power window switch in the LOCK (pressed-in) position. Accidental operation of the windows by children can cause serious injury.
    • Do not stick your face or arms out of the window openings while driving.

    Manual windows (if equipped)
