Closing the Hood

~1min read

1. Before closing the hood, check that:

  • All filler caps in the engine compartment are installed correctly.
  • Gloves, rags or other combustible materials have been removed from the engine compartment.

2. Reinsert the support rod into its retaining clip to prevent vibration.
3. Lower the hood to about 30 cm (12 in) from the closed position and let it drop. Check that it is latched securely.

WARNING

  • Before closing the hood, remove any obstacles from the engine compartment. Closing the hood with obstructions in the engine compartment may cause property damage or serious personal injury.
  • Do not leave gloves, rags or other flammable materials in the engine compartment. They may ignite from heat and cause a fire.

WARNING

  • Always carefully check that the hood is securely latched before driving. If not latched, the hood may open while driving, suddenly obstructing visibility and possibly causing an accident.
  • The support rod must be fully inserted into its hole on the hood whenever you inspect the engine compartment. This prevents the hood from falling and possible personal injury.
  • Do not drive the vehicle with the hood raised; it obstructs visibility and could fall or become damaged.
