To close the tailgate, lower it and push it firmly until it latches. Make sure the tailgate is securely closed.

CAUTION Before closing the tailgate, make sure hands, feet and other parts of your body are clear. WARNING When closing the tailgate, check that there are no objects near the tailgate lock and striker. The tailgate lock could be damaged. CAUTION - Exhaust gases When driving with the tailgate open, exhaust gases enter the passenger compartment and can cause serious, even fatal, injury to occupants. If you must drive with the tailgate open, keep the air vents and windows open so that more outside air enters the passenger compartment. CAUTION - Rear cargo area Do not allow occupants to ride in the rear cargo area, as it is not equipped with seat belts. To avoid injury in the event of an accident or sudden braking, occupants must always be firmly secured in their seats.
