  1. To install the cap, turn it clockwise until it clicks. This indicates that the cap is properly tightened.
  2. Close the fuel filler door and press it lightly, then make sure it is securely closed.

WARNING - Refueling

  • Pressurized fuel may spray out and reach your clothing or skin, creating a risk of fire and burns. Always remove the fuel filler cap slowly and carefully. If you hear a hissing sound, wait until it stops before fully removing the cap.
  • When refueling, avoid "topping off" the tank once the pump nozzle shuts off automatically.
  • Always make sure the fuel filler cap is installed securely to prevent fuel leakage in the event of an accident.

WARNING - Refueling hazards Motor fuels are flammable materials. When refueling, carefully observe the following precautions. Failure to follow these precautions may cause serious personal injury, burns or death from fire or explosion.

  • Read and follow the warnings posted at the service station.
  • Before refueling, check where the service station's emergency fuel shut-off control is located, if available.
  • Before touching the fuel nozzle, touch any other metal part of the vehicle well away from the fuel tank, fuel nozzle or any other source of gasoline vapors, to discharge static electricity, which is potentially dangerous.
  • Do not get back into the vehicle after starting to refuel, to avoid generating static electricity through contact or rubbing against components or fabrics (polyester, satin, nylon, etc.) that can generate static electricity. Static electricity may ignite gasoline vapors and cause rapid combustion. If you must get back into the vehicle, first discharge any potentially dangerous static electricity again by touching any metal part of the vehicle well away from the fuel tank, fuel nozzle or any other source of gasoline vapors.
  • When using a fuel container, make sure to ground the container before refueling. Static discharge from the container may ignite gasoline vapors and cause a fire. Once refueling has started, keep the container in contact with the vehicle until the operation is complete.
Use only plastic containers designed for transporting and storing gasoline.
  • Do not use mobile phones while refueling. Electrical current and/or electronic interference generated by mobile phones can potentially ignite gasoline vapors and cause a fire.
  • Always turn off the engine when refueling. Sparks produced by the engine's electrical components can ignite gasoline vapors and cause a fire. After refueling, make sure the fuel cap and fuel filler door are securely closed before starting the engine.
  • Do NOT use matches or lighters and do NOT SMOKE or leave a lit cigarette in the vehicle when at a service station, especially while refueling. Motor fuel is highly flammable and, if ignited, can cause fires.
  • If a fire breaks out while refueling, move away from the vehicle and immediately contact the service station attendant or call the fire department. Follow all safety instructions provided to you.
  • WARNING

    • Refuel in accordance with the instructions in "Fuel Requirements" in Section 1.
    • When replacing the fuel filler cap, use only a genuine Kia cap or an equivalent cap specifically designed for your vehicle. A non-specific cap may cause serious problems to the fuel system or the emission control system.
    • Do not spill fuel on the exterior surfaces of the vehicle. Fuel can damage painted surfaces.
    • When refueling is complete, make sure the fuel filler cap is firmly installed so that fuel does not leak in the event of an accident.
