Smart key precautions

NOTE

  • If the smart key is lost for any reason, the engine cannot be started. If necessary, tow the vehicle and contact an Authorized Kia Dealer.
  • Up to 2 smart keys can be registered per vehicle. If a smart key is lost, immediately take the vehicle and the remaining key to an Authorized Kia Dealer to avoid the risk of vehicle theft.
  • The smart key will not work if one of the following conditions occurs:
  • The smart key is near a radio transmitter, such as a radio station or airport, that interferes with its normal operation.
  • The smart key is near a portable two-way radio or a mobile phone.
  • Someone near the vehicle is operating the smart key of another vehicle.
If the smart key does not work properly, open and close the doors with the mechanical key. If you have any problems with the smart key, contact an Authorized Kia Dealer.
  • If the smart key is near a mobile phone or smartphone, the signal from the smart key may be blocked. This is particularly relevant when the phone is active, that is, when making/receiving a call, writing a message and/or sending/receiving email. Avoid placing the smart key in the same pocket as the mobile phone or smartphone, and try to keep some distance between the devices.
WARNING Protect the smart key from contact with water or other liquids. If the remote system fails due to exposure to water or other liquids, it is not covered by the vehicle manufacturer's warranty. WARNING Keep the smart key away from electromagnetic materials that block electromagnetic waves on the surface of the key.
